This is my entry for Mixed Media Monday. This painting is inspired from a very painful period in my life, when I found out about the ongoing abuse of a very close friend of mine. Her living nightmare started when she was eight years old and lasted for several years. There is nothing worse than stealing the innosense of a child in such a brutal way. Although I was only a couple of years older than her, I always felt responsible for not being able to protect her and shield her from this. She felt so confused and ashamed, that she told no one until she was an adult. What makes me so mad,  when I think about this, is her parents. Why didn't they didn't see any signs? Were they so absorbed in their own problems and just assumed that everything  was fine? Parents are supposed to protect their children, be alert!
I love you my dear friend and every time I think about you I just want to embrace you and keep you safe...

On a lighter note....today is my Birthday and I'd like to thank  all my friends for making it extra special this year!!

'' Catch of the day ''

I'm not in love, it's just a silly (fish) phase I'm going through
and just because I paint you up
don't get me wrong, don't think you've it made
I'm not in love..no, no....    10CC

My newest painting is inspired by the song '' Too many fish in the sea '' by the Marvelettes. Once again I just couldn't help myself with my silly fishies. I think after this I'll turn into a mermaid!
This is my entry for Mixed Media Monday.Enjoy and have a creative week :)

Greek kiosk

There's nothing more Greek than a "periptero". These wooden kiosks are on almost every corner! I love going to the periptero every morning to get my mags and news paper and candy, lots of candy!! yum yum...  Most of all,  I just like saying the word periptero...it has a certain melody to it..
This is my most favorite neighboorhood cafe! I escape there as often as I can!
Have a great weekend :)

Mardi Gras

This is my entry for Mixed Media Monday.  Enjoy!!
I almost didn't enter this piece. All week I've been walking around in a daze and would just stare at my canvas! How I hate being stuck like that! and to be honest this theme was giving me trouble. So this afternoon as I was cleaning my brushes and putting everything away frustrated that I hadn't been inspired for this theme, plus it was Valentines day and all the radio stations were playing these sobby stupid songs adding to my frustration...Not everybody has a valentine to celebrate with!!!  you idiot djs!!  my valentine is far away...uhhh. so anyway as I was putting my stuff away... it clicked!! just like that..Daisy my little valentine girl and my muse!! What would she dress up at carnivale ?  Just like that!!  so I sat down again and painted like I had a fever! Carnivale fever!! enjoy and hope you have a creative week!!!

Happy Valentine's Day :)
