how to attract a man series - RULE no 1

I'm going to entertain you for the next few posts...I hope, that is. As you know, I've been working on the exhibition ''Love or nothing''  and got a bit side tracked on the theme, well sorta.. Love and relationships is something that we have to work on, even when we find our significant other. I was doing some research on line and all these sites kept popping up about all sorts of rules a woman should follow in order to attract a man. I am sure a lot of us, including myself, have applied in some way. hahaha right? it's all just a game! and a fun game, I should add.  So...anyway.. I kept reading about all these rules..and I envisioned paintings and little fish posing as the guys, everywhere. I have been working these paintings for weeks now, that's why I have disappeared from my blog! lol
I've been obsessed with this matter and would go to bed..and suddenly I would come up with all sorts of ideas for this.
Let me tell you, I posted the first painting on Face book this morning, and haven't gotten any likes yet!! hahahaha I'm guessing the guys definitely don't like this subject!! lol or maybe it's too early, since of the time difference Greece has with the rest of the world. 
It's all in good humor and I had a blast with my series!!

cherry blossoms

Spring is absolutely here! and memories from back home are visiting my mind.. cherry blossoms to be exact! The street I use to live on, in Maryland, was lined with cherry trees and come spring...woww. Pink and white everywhere!!  I miss that and my beautiful rose garden :(   but thats ok..it's beautiful here in Athens as well. The citrus trees are in bloom and the fragrance is amazing! All of Athens is full of orange type trees (don't know the name in english) they are bitter in taste..not edible,  but they smell soo yummy!

Patra Carnival

The biggest carnival in Greece is held in the city of Patra. It's always held on the last Sunday before Lent begins.  Wow is all I can say!! Everyone is a part of this huge festivity, from the very young to the very old..even doggies were dressed up in costumes. The whole city is decorated with bright colours and sculptures. Loud music everywhere! all the cafes and bars put their speakers on the streets! hahha It's one huge party that lasts the whole weekend.

The carnival consisted of about 130 themed groups and anyone can join, even last minute. Some of the groups are formed right after the carnival ends.

 Each group rents a space usually a vacated store, where they hold their meetings and dress rehearsal. I saw several stores turned into meeting places with all their info on the front door. Group number and what each theme was.

The whole experience was fascinating. What impressed me most was the old people were in costumes too. Its a huge parade that lasts several hours, so I take my hat off to these people :) I can tell you I am exhausted from all the partying and standing up for hours watching them.

 

 

I also had a bit of time to do some business and found this pretty gallery, called "Art Factory". My work is being shown there as of this morning :)

Blackbird

The only excuse I have for being m.i.a, is painting like a madwoman and getting ready for my exhibition this summer, and having a bit of writer's block or should I say blogger's block. I hate it when this happens to me...ughhh
I finished my ''Blackbird'' painting and am quite happy with it. The little winged heart is made out of paper clay and is hanging in the window, reminding us that everything is about love..right?
'' Blackbird'' is one of four 3D paintings that will be in the show.

 

 

''Catch the fish and tame it" was next.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend. I will be going to Patra for the biggest carnival in Greece and I'm thrilled since this will be my first time. stay tuned next week for photos.
