They draw and travel

I just had to pop over and share my news! My map has been added to the fabulous They draw and travel web site. I made this map of Athens, during my class with Lilla Rogers. It was one of our assignments, for Make Art That Sells. I had to redo it, to fit the site's requirments, and I loved ever moment of the redo. I figured "practice makes perfect" and something that Lilla kept telling us...put 10000 hours in your art :)

Itsy Bitsy Mittens

I've entered my very first  Spoonflower contest!! Hope you will vote for my ''Itsy Bitsy Mitten'' pattern. I'm either very brave or very naive...but I figured I have nothing to lose and it was so much fun to make!!

This pattern is a result of a class I'm taking on skillshare. My brain has been on pattern mode for weeks now and I'm loving this so much, I can't stand it! :)

Hello monkey girl

I feel like I have grown wings with all this new work. There is so much to learn in digital art and not enough hours in the day. My ideal illustration would be something that includes elements from my paintings and that's what I'm now working on. Oh yes and patterns, I'm in love with patterns!! I think it's because of my background in textiles.
Hope you are doing well my friend. I've been neglecting you, I know..

E is for elephant

I just love elephants!! I could do a whole series on them and I think I will after I'm done with all my pressing deadlines.
Ever since I started learning Illustrator, I've been fascinated with patterns. There's so much to learn and my head is bursting with all these ideas! The blanket on my little elephant is a pattern I made with tiny ants as an accent.

Fat Cats

I've never been a cat person, but ever since Daisy has become fascinated and  friends with the kitty next door, I have been paying more attention to them. Have I told you about the kitty that lives in the apartment next to me? His name is Pipi and he's crazy about Daisy!! and so is she! They sit on the balcony and stare at each other for hours at a time! If Daisy is not there, the kitty will start meowing till Daisy comes out, and the other way around!! hahaha I've never seen a funnier scene!

Red Riding Hood

This was so much fun to create. I wanted this to be a bit dark and humorous as well, so I dressed all of Red's little friends in red capes :)

ABC

D is for daisies ;)  I was a bit tempted to include you know who (Miss Daisy) in this one, but decided the greater public wouldn't know who she is.. Although her dreams for Hollywood are still alive..she's not there quite yet :)
Hope you are well my friend and enjoying Fall weather, I wish I could say the same..summer continues here, it's almost end of September and I'm still in t shirts and sandals. I'm begining to miss my boots..

This little guy wants to say hi :)    Can you tell I'm having fun with digital art?!  I've been glued to my computer for weeks now and can't wait to show what I've come up with, on my next post.

Kimolos

It was only a day trip, but I believe it was the highlight of my vacation. Kimolos is not a tourist destination and you realise that as soon as you step off the ferry. It's like stepping back in time..There are only a couple of taverns on the port, but these aren't your regular taverns, the food is prepared with such love and care, it's gourmet. I had a lentil salad that was fit to be in Bon Appetit magazine. yummmm.
Kimolos Hora is within walking distance and it also has a Kastro (castle).

The thing that I fell in love with, is that among the ruins, there were gorgeous white washed houses and the contrast between the ruins was fascinating!!

Everywhere I went, I could see how well kept the village was and there were tiny paintings drawn on the stone paved streets. every few steps, mermaids, tiny boats, sea horses...Even on the outside of the houses.
This island is full of creative people.

Hope you are doing well and creating :) Can't wait to show you my new work, I've been working like a mad woman learning Illustrator!!

Milos

One of the prettiest islands I've been to!! Milos is famous for it's hundreds of beautiful beaches and most of them are accessible only by boat. It belongs to the Cycladic Islands and is very similar to Serifos and Sifnos in architecture, white washed houses and narrow stone streets. The Hora is built on a hill and there is also a Kastro (castle) just like with the other islands to protect it from pirates! I climbed up to the castle and even though the temps were extremely hot...the views from up there were heavenly!!  You could see the whole island!

The most gorgeous sunsets! words cannot describe this picture..

These are from the way up th the Kastro. it's not an easy climb and it was soooo hot that day.

churches everywhere!

This is in Plaka. beautiful narrow streets and well kept gardens, white washed houses...

Sparkling sea..

Sarakiniko. Have you ever seen a beach like this?..Milos is a volcanic island and this beach here looks like pumice stone. something out of a sci fi movie, right?

There were also cave on the side of the hills...

Hope you are well my friend and enjoyed this little break :)

Before I go I must show you one more pic. The colored doors you see in the background used to be storage garages for the fishing boats a long time ago. They are now renovated rentals, where you open your front door and dive into the gorgeaous sea!

My next post will be on Kimolos, where I went on a day trip. It's only a twenty minute ferry ride(2 euro fare!) I only spent the day there but it was so out of this world beautiful, It will be my vacation destination next summer!
